Located in the department of Nord, Lille is the largest city in the Hauts-de-France region. It attracts thousands of students and professionals every year for its quality of life. Positioned at the crossroads of several major European cities such as Brussels, Paris, and London, Lille is an affordable city with multiple neighborhoods, each with their own style and characteristics, accessible to each other by metro.

Vauban-Esquermes:

Located in the north of Lille, Vauban-Esquermes is the greenest neighborhood in the city, with the large Parc de la Citadelle occupying 110 hectares of greenery and waterways perfect for strolling and escaping. It also has a beautiful zoological space featuring over 70 different animal species, with the goal of raising awareness about biodiversity and endangered species. Vauban-Esquermes is also known for being a student neighborhood, with bars and lively places that offer the best of Lille’s nightlife to 18-25 year olds.

Le Vieux-Lille:

If there is one emblematic neighborhood in Lille, it’s this one. Located in the city center, Vieux-Lille is the most charming neighborhood with its cobblestone streets, typical brick facades, and beautiful squares that transport you to a different atmosphere, almost frozen in time. It’s one of the busiest shopping areas in the city, with numerous clothing stores, pastry shops, and restaurants. At Colivys, we’re sure it will become your favorite spot!

Lille-Centre:

This is probably the largest neighborhood in the city, with a multitude of smaller neighborhoods including “Bois-Habité,” where our coliving apartments and rooms are located. Residential and prized for its greenery and accessibility, like other neighborhoods in Lille-Centre, it’s situated next to the Lille Europe and Lille Flandres train stations, as well as the large shopping center Euralille. Due to its immensity, the neighborhood offers a rich cultural offer for its residents, housing the Natural History Museum and the Palais des Beaux-Arts.

Wazemmes:

A neighborhood that is now central to Lille, Wazemmes was once a neighboring municipality. Today, it is known for its market, one of the largest in France, which is also a popular gathering place in the city. A neighborhood life has formed there, making it one of the most popular, trendy, and pleasant neighborhoods in Lille. Wazemmes is considered the cultural center of the city. It is home to La Maison Folie de Wazemmes where creators and artists come together to unleash their imagination and desires.

Lille has other neighborhoods, each with their own specificities and attractions. Discover them in our dedicated article!
