The best bakeries in Paris.

If we were asked to depict France internationally with a single symbol, our pick would be gastronomy: the famed wine and cheese, always paired with a fresh baguette. Yes indeed, our baking craftsmanship is among the most popular globally, and many countries admire our bread and pastries. It’s no coincidence that this symbol of sharing and comforting craftsmanship is celebrated annually on October 16th.

For the occasion, the Colivys team has picked out the top bakeries in Paris for you! An epicurean tour to every corner of the capital to find the traditional bakery that suits your tastes, where you can savor the best at breakfast and throughout the day: sourdough breads, croissants, chocolate breads, tarts, baguettes, and other cakes. Let’s go, follow the guide!

BO&MIE

Croissants

If you live in Paris, you couldn’t have missed BO&MIE. It’s THE hot bakery of the moment, and rightfully so. Its creators, craftsmen transitioning in their careers, are graduates of one of the best culinary schools in France and the world: FERRANDI school. They envisioned and offer 100% homemade artisanal products. Therefore, you can taste, like all the people from near and far, a wide range of loaves, exclusively made from sourdough, pastries reimagined by pastry chef Christophe Carré, and pure butter pastries, like the excellent raspberry croissant, praline bread, not to forget the amazing cinnamon babka available on weekends. BO&MIE also offers savory bakery items such as delicious quiches in their various shops in historical Paris (Rue de Rivoli, Boulevard Saint-Michel, and Rue Saint-Martin). If you’re looking for a place to unwind, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a little time in its pleasant and neat interior. A small particularity: innovative and seasonal pastries that you won’t find anywhere else are sold every week. You must try this urgently if you haven’t already!

Mamiche embodies the spirit of old French traditional bakeries where you can already smell the scent of crispy baguettes fresh out of the oven, in the early morning hours. Good stuff, really good stuff even, but not necessarily visually impressive because they prioritize quality for their customers above all else. Isn’t that what we’re looking for?

As a natural neighborhood bakery, working exclusively with sourdough products, Mamiche offers a wide range of breads, pastries, and other treats. Their specialties? Loaves baked with candied or dried fruit, all kinds of babkas, and classic bakery pastries like chouquettes, eclairs, and the cookies we enjoyed on Wednesday afternoons. Indeed, as we are fans of this rolled brioche, we want to introduce you to the temple that showcases this treat: Babka Zana. Located in the heart of Paris, in the 9th district of the capital, one of the Babka Zana boutiques can be found just a few streets from Montmartre. The brand, named in homage to the mothers and grandmothers who crafted this delicacy, has made a place for itself among the greats. It offers a wide range of soft babkas thanks to unparalleled fermentation, crispy, full of taste and flavors, which will make your taste buds water.
